A snapshot of guest ratings and stories behind the stay.
“Thank goodness we had our first nights dinner in New Norfolk at the Bush Inn, the service was great and very friendly. The food was amazing, beautifully cooked eye fillet with the best seasonal veg, I have had in any pub or restaurant, so we had dinner again the second night and it was just as amazing, perfectly cooked fish. Matt and Belinda have done a really great job in creating a great atmosphere with absolutely fantastic food.”
“Stunning old historic pub but in perfect condition. Fire inside was ticking over which was wonderful on a cold Tassie day. The staff were so friendly and accommodating and the meals were great.”
“Charming pub that we were told recently underwent a renovation. Steak (choice of chips and salad or veg) and grilled fish & chips were excellent. Steak was cooked perfectly and the chips were tasty and a good d crunchy. Cheesecake was very sweet, could have had a little more tart-ness to it to suit my taste. Excellent service. Some beautiful history and small memorabilia to explore. 5 stars!”
“We went here for a birthday celebration lunch, and it was great. Food was good, staff were friendly and prompt the whole time. Pricing was reasonable for the quality and quantity of the meals. There was live music, which I didn't expect on a Sunday afternoon, but was a grest bonus. They were loud enough to hear ans enjoy but not too loud to take over lunch conversations. If I could remember the name of the duo, I would also give them a recommendation. Lastly, I love how the 8-ball table is in a room not connected to a bar, as with some other establishments the kids can't play if not allowed in the bar area. It's also a great use of the space. We'll definitely go for another meal again when in New Norfolk again.”
“The staff warmly welcomed us and our pooch in the beer garden. The Deep South Brewery Black Rice lager went down a treat & the meals were excellent. You also get a great view to watch the birdlife in the Derwent from here. Not sure about the accommodation as we didn't stay there but the pub itself has oodles of character & history.”
“Chowder was the best I ever had , Steak rosemary open pie was terrific very happy. A polite notice to public asking if their children would not run around the tables , as hot food & glass is being carried around, also not relaxing. Is all that is needed.”
“A progressive refit has seen the dining areas modernised (March2026) and I understand the rooms are well under way under new-ish owners. I had the eye fillet which was cooked perfectly (medium) accompanied by heirloom carrots, beans etc and all delicious. This old establishment is clearly heading into the gastropub arena and doing it with style. If the weather suits then eating out the back on the huge deck overlooking the river is recommended.”
